After weeks of being couch bound from horrible pre After weeks of being couch bound from horrible pregnancy sickness. I was finally craving some movement and wanted to get back to the gym 🏋🏻‍♂️😅
 
This was my first time going back to the gym since being pregnant and let me tell you my body needed it….🥵 Even if this workout was easier than what I’d like to do it was a huge accomplishment to get this done ✔️
 
I was feeling down on myself for being so inactive for weeks, eating way too much junk food because that’s all I could stomach and feeling like I wasn’t going to have an active healthy pregnancy that I envisioned. 
 
It’s easy to be critical of yourself and where you were at just a couple of months ago. After I let go of my ego I actually was able to go and move my body in a way that felt right for it that day without the self judgment. 
 
 
The post workout meal is what made it all worth it…may not be the healthiest but it’s what  baby and I wanted in that moment 😋

Reality vs expectations 🔄 I totally convinced Reality vs expectations 🔄
 
I totally convinced myself that I would eat so healthy at the beginning of this pregnancy and eat all the best things for baby….. and then first trimester nausea and food aversions hit 🙃
 
When I tell you I’ve had the hardest time keeping any food down I mean it… I was nauseous with Sage in the first trimester but with this pregnancy I’ve been actually sick 🤢… more times than I can count. 
 
It’s so easy to feel guilty and hard on yourself when all you’re able to eat and keep down is poutine, bagels with cream cheese and freezies…🍟🍔🌮🍗
 
Not to mention I started showing so much faster with baby number 2 and then on top of it having major fatigue (living my life on the couch) and not moving much plus my body only able to keep fast food down (literally) I was starting to feel defeated and a lot of self body shame. 
 
There is a time and place for green smoothies, kale salads and ginger lemon shots and first trimesters are just not it 😅 (at least in my case!). 
 
A little reminder to myself and others in the same boat and dealing with negative self-talk to give ourselves some extra love because pregnant or not they are doing big things everyday. 
 
Here’s to my pregnancy reality vs expectations…. Anyone else?

What the majority of my first trimester looked lik What the majority of my first trimester looked like… 😮‍💨
 
One of the hardest parts of my pregnancy so far has been how extremely nauseous/sick and fatigued I was in my first trimester. I felt so useless and like I was failing as a parent missing this special time with her. Thank goodness for daddy keeping us all fed and taken care of. 
 
Sage and I spent a lot of time on the couch, napping, cuddling, watching movies and snacking while I fought off the nausea.
 
Sage may not know it but she was my support system for getting through this hard patch and a reminder that it’s all worth it in the end 🥺

1️⃣Hydrate those veins! I’ve been told by many doctors that hydrated veins are easier to draw blood 
 
2️⃣ This may be a me thing, but ask for the “baby needle” 😉 something about it makes a difference to me. It takes longer to draw the blood but you barely notice it!
 
What are your thoughts on blood work, do you have a needle phobia or it’s a walk in the park?

First ultrasound sound down ✔️ What a differ First ultrasound sound down ✔️
 
What a difference from being pregnant in 2020, and now 🤯 Matt was actually able to come into the ultrasound room with me this time!
 
Honestly this ultrasound was such a sign of relief…. During the first trimester it can be so difficult to remember why this is all happening 😅 
 
The all day “morning” sickness, nausea, fatigue and everything else that comes along with the beginning stages of pregnancy, and then you see this little bean and it’s all worth it 🥰
