1. Freeze Leftover Smoothie

…into ice cubes! I always find myself with a little bit of leftover green smoothie Β that I am too full to drink, but I don’t want to waste. I spend a lot of money on good quality ingredients, and it would be a shame to pour it down the drain! So what I do is simply fill up an ice cube tray with the leftovers and pop it into the freezer. I like to use a silicone ice cube trayΒ  because the frozen cubes are easier to pop out, and it’s just another way to avoid plastic in the kitchen. You can use your frozen smoothie ice cubes by simply letting them thaw, or blending them into a new smoothie. I’ve linked my favourite blender here!

2. Ceramic Knives

Did you know that ceramic knives help to reduce the oxidation when you cut into a fresh apple or avocado? Steel knives cause fresh fruits and veggies to oxidize faster. This is becuase they transfer ions from the blade to the surface of your fresh cut veggies. The blade of these ceramic knives is also very thin, making it very easy to slice through veggies such as tomatoes. Ceramic knives are lightweight, easy to handle, and perfect for slicing fruits and veggies.

3. Prep Breakfast Ahead of Time

If you’ve never had overnight oats, now is the time to try them! Using an icecream scoop, first add a little bit of muesli and chia seeds to a glass jar. Add honey or yogurt for some extra flavour, and top with your favourite nut milk. Then, pop it in the fridge overnight. The chia seeds and oatmeal with expand and absorb the liquid from the nut milk. In the morning, simply add some fresh fruit on top and enjoy! Check out my recipe for peaches and cream overnight oats or my chia pudding parfait for more ideas!

4. Store Cut Veggies in Water

If you’ve got veggies such as carrots and celery that have been sitting in your crisper awhile this one’s for you. They may be a little wilted, and I’ve got a hack that will save them! Cut the veggies up and store them in the fridge in a glass container filled with water. This will make them crispy and crunchy once again, and you don’t have to let them go to waste!

5. Sheet Pan Meals

Sheet pan meals are a great meal prep hack becuase they save time and effort in the kitchen. I like to make combos like chicken with brussels sprouts, onions, and red peppers. The trick is to cook protein and veggies together that take around the same amount of time to cook. Using a reusable silicone baking mat is also a great hack. This it makes cleaning up easier, and cuts out the need to use parchment paper! Check out my recipe for Sheet Pan Chipotle Lime Shrimp Fajitas and Sheet Pan Chilli Basil Fish and Veggie Dinner for more ideas.

6. Double Batch Cook

Double a recipe to make extra for leftovers! For example, I like to make spaghetti bolognese with ground turkey, veggies, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, herbs and spices. I just double the recipe and freeze half, or use the extra as meal prep for the rest of the week. I like to use a large mason jar to store my bolognese sauce with these white lids. This is a great hack for those busy weeks where you don’t have much time to cook, but you still want to eat well! It’s always nice to know that there’s something delicious waiting for you in the fridge.

7. Use a Weekly Meal Planner

  1. Hi! Love your recipes! Had a question-where can I find the recipe for the marinade you use for the sheet pan (chicken, Brussel sprouts, bell pepper recipe)? Thanks!
