3 DIY Edible Gifts for Christmas

Christmas is around the corner so I thought I would share some super easy, last minute DIY edible gift ideas. All three DIY gift ideas are perfect for a baker, foodie, or HealthNut like me! But really anyone can enjoy these gifts since they are cute looking and taste amazing.

3 super easy DIY edible gift ideas for Christmas. The first runner up is this amazing DIY Pecan Maple Butter in a jar gift idea. I used my friend Davida’s recipe from her blog: The Healthy Maven and simply put the butter in these cute mini mason jars and finished it off with a recipe tag and some twine. That’s seriously how easy it is plus the recipe itself took me no more than 10 minutes to prepare.Β

The second DIY gift idea is this homemade vanilla extract, which is the perfect gift to give to someone you, know who loves to bake. Mind you its nice to make this ahead of time since it takes a few weeks to turn into vanilla extract but it will look cute stored on a shelf until ready to use. Homemade vanilla extract is the easiest thing to make since it consists of 2 ingredients: Vodka or bourbon and vanilla beans. I got inspired by this awesome post from Seeded at the Table. You can find the labels I used from the same site which I linked below πŸ™‚

Who doesn’t want a delicious cupcake delivered to them for the holidays? It’s basically a gift and dessert in one. You can use any cupcake recipe for this gift idea but I highly recommend making my Gingerbread Cupcakes recipe, which tastes and looks very festive. If you’re short on time you can always buy some cupcakes from the grocery store and fill up a bunch of mason jars to give out at the dinner table or to friends and family who stop.

Instructions:

DIY Pecan Maple Butter

  • Fill mason jars with pecan butter.
  • Cut out top label and recipe card.
  • Hole punch the corner of the recipe card and attach it with some twine around the jar, finishing with a bow or knot.

DIY Vanilla Extract

  • Start by slicing each vanilla pod both in half vertically and horizontally. You will need 6 segments ( 11/2 pods) for each 4oz bottle of vanilla extract.
  • Fill each bottle with vodka using a funnel.
  • Screw the lid tightly and let steep for about 12 weeks.
  • If you're giving it away before the 12 weeks is up, then you'll want to include a tag with the bottle that says when the extract will be ready by aka "Ready for Use By" date.

DIY Cupcakes in a Jar

  • Either bake or buy your cupcakes.
  • If baking, allow cupcakes to fully cool before placing in the jar.
  • Turn your mason jar upside and place the cupcake on the lid and screw the jar back on keeping the jar upside down.
  • Next, tie some twine around with the recipe tag (hole punched) and finish with a bow or knot.
