These healthy no-bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Oat Bites are the perfect pick me up snack, breakfast on the go, or after dinner dessert!
Energy balls are a great snack for both adults and kids and a healthier alternative to store-bought energy bars/protein bars. They are also super budget-friendly as most likely you already have these ingredients in your cupboards.
I love making a big batch ahead of time to store in the fridge or freezer so they’re ready when you need them. Matt and I love grabbing these when we’re rushing out the door, or to pack some when we’re going for a hike or road trip.
These energy bites are loaded with wholesome ingredients like oats and flax seeds, packed full of protein, fibre and healthy fats. They are super simple to make, don’t require baking, are ready in less than 10 minutes. Plus, everything is combined in one bowl: which means less dishes to wash for Mr. Matt!
The best part about this snack is that it’s super versatile. You can swap the peanut butter for any nut butter you like, and if you want to make these school friendly than use sunflower butter. If chocolate chips aren’t your jam, you can use raisins or carob chips. If you’re out of flax seeds, use ground chia seeds, and swap the cinnamon for a couple of tablespoons of raw cacao for an extra chocolate-y taste! These are BOMB! So yummy and easy to make. Feels healthier than reaching for packaged sweets. Thanks!
Is this chocolate peanut butter treat for for a baby?
Hi Nicole.
The mixture keeps falling apart. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Nicole.
When I attempted to make these, the mixture kept falling apart. What am I doing wrong?
Hey! I found that when I added more chocolate chips, it made it fall apart more easily. So, adding less or the exact amount helps. I added more than the recipe called for and made it difficult to keep together. When I made it with the correct amount, it held together better. If you keep practicing mushing it together in your palm, you’ll eventually get the hang of mashing it together and it will stick. It took me a few minutes, but I got the hang of it. Good luck!
Was so quick and easy — major payoff too! I would add fewer chocolate chips next time.
Hi Ann. How did yours come out ok? The mixture kept falling apart when I made them
The mixture is meant to fall apart when warm. That’s why they are meant to be cold in the fridge. I would recommend shaping them with a tablespoon measure
I absolutely loved these oat bites! They satisfied my cookie craving completely! So simple and yet so delicious! Excellent recipe Nikole!
Yay, I’m so happy to hear that! Thank you for the feedback. XX
Hi
Can this be made without flaxseed? They’re so expensive here in Australia! Once taken out of the freezer, how long would it take for the maple syrup to get runny?
Made these! They were perfect! Much love from Cyprus! Love your videos!
Hi Eleni, thank you for your kind words. So glad you enjoyed this recipe! Happy Holidays 🙂 – Nikole
Growing up, I used to eat granola bars like CRAZY. When I discovered granola balls or oat balls, I was just as addicted. Chocolate and peanut butter are the best pairing too–this is such a phenomenal recipe! Heck, it’s probably super easy and versatile!
Hi Cassie! Same here, they are such a good healthy snack and great alternative to packaged granola bars. Enjoy!
