This Grapefruit Jalapeño Margarita is a refreshing cocktail made with fresh ingredients and just the right amount of spicy kick!
If you’re a fan of traditional margaritas you’re going to love this variation! The fresh grapefruit juice gives it a fun twist and a refreshing flavour and the jalapeño peppers deliver an unexpected punch. This cocktail has been on repeat this summer at family BBQs and brunches. I just love the delicious combo of sweet and tart and spicy! If you’re a huge fan of jalapeños and really want to feel that punch and kick, you can infuse the tequila with the jalapeños for about an hour or even overnight. If you like it less spicy then use just a few slices or non at all – you’re in control!
As always, I try to healthify my recipes as much as possible and although cocktails aren’t necessarily “healthy” there’s nothing wrong with enjoying an aperitif every once in a while. The best way to healthify your favourite cocktail is to use freshly squeezed juices and substituting refined sugar with honey, maple syrup or coconut sugar.
I think my favourite part about this cocktail is the salty zesty rim. I mean can you have a margarita any other way? Actually you can! You can have a sweet and salty and zesty rim to satisfy all you taste buds. Maybe even add a touch of cayenne? Simply mix your coarse sea salt with coconut sugar – yum!
This spicy margarita is sure to be a hit at your next festive BBQ, happy hour or Sunday brunch!
